California African American Museum

Los Angeles, California

The California African American Museum (CAAM) is a state-owned facility located on the northeast portion of Exposition Park, home to the Museum of Natural History, California Science Center and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. With Huff + Gooden as Design Architects and HGA as Executive Architects, the 37,000 SF renovation of the existing space and 77,000-square-foot addition expands the facility to 114,000 square feet to include Galleries, Sculpture Court, Resource Area, 300-seat Theater, and Administrative Support. Highlights include the Gallery of Discovery designed around interactive exhibits, the Permanent Art Collection gallery for the bulk of CAAM's collection, and a Community Gallery for program work and community shows.

Project is currently in fundraising.
