Appleton Medical Center Martha Siekman Cancer Center

Appleton, Wisconsin

HGA designed the Martha Siekman Cancer Center as an addition to the Appleton Medical Center's (AMC) existing Oncology Department to provide much needed space and a continuum of care for northeast Wisconsin's residents. People diagnosed with cancer can require as many as 100 treatment/check-up visits in the first year. AMC provides the best radiation oncology, chemotherapy, surgical and screening services available. Opened in 2001, the Cancer Center provides patients with sufficient space, a healing environment and streamlined care. This 14,000-square-foot, one-story, glass, brick and stone structure takes advantage of natural lighting and a beautifully landscaped garden courtyard to sooth and distract patients receiving life-saving treatment. HGA's design also included a research library and computer lab, allowing patients and family members to reclaim some power in the wake of an overwhelming diagnosis.
