California State Office Buildings 8 and 9

Renovation of these two 18-floor towers includes 540,000 NSF of office space for the State of California Department of Social Services (DSS); implementation of new mechanical, electrical and telecommunications systems; structural upgrades addressing seismic consideration; overall building upgrades meeting code requirements; and repairs to exterior shell. A 12,000 SF addition will provide a secured lobby for the two buildings, a second-level walkway connecting OB8 and OB 9, and a child-care facility. Project goals include meeting or exceeding all appropriate California Tier 1, Tier 2, and Title 24 design criteria. Estimated completion is Spring 2010.
