Cedar Rapids Ice Arena
Cedar Rapids, IowaThe result of a unique public/private partnership, the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena is the home to the Rough Riders USHL Team, Polar Ice Entertainment, and numerous recreational sports organizations. The 115,000 square foot building houses an Olympic size rink, and a USHL size rink surrounded by a 4000 seat arena, including 14 luxury suites, and supporting lockers, concessions areas, and weight room. It also features a large game room/observation area, retail store, meeting rooms, skate rental, and Sbarro's Restaurant. Design of the facility began in March of 1999, and the first home game was held January 8, 2000 - an amazing 10 months by any standard! Construction cost was $9.1 million, with overall project costs at $12.4 million.
