Los Angeles, CaliforniaAs part of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's master facility plan, HGA designed two major expansion and renovation projects for the outpatient cancer center at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, including a Gamma Knife Suite. The space is very user-friendly. The design, color scheme and art, paired with amenities such as the refreshment area, comfortable seating and entertainment centers, helps ease the stress of the treatment patients must undergo. With the sliding shoji doors, the environment can change from an open atmosphere to one where each family can have privacy. This distinct separation between the patient/family area and the treatment planning space prevents others from overhearing the discussion of specific cases. The inviting interiors of the treatment space are a contrast from the typical cold, sterile healthcare environments seen elsewhere.
