Ceridian Headquarters Civil Engineering
Bloomington, MinnesotaDevelopment of the Ceridian Corporate Headquarters required special attention to the protected environment of the Minnesota River bluffs. Siting the multi-story office building and parking ramp within the limited buildable area on the site presented a real challenge to the site designers. The building and parking structure were built into a steep hillside. The design responded to many issues including the zoning requirements of the Bluff Protection Overlay District; preservation of burial mounds; limited access and on-site circulation space; tree and landscape preservation; structure stability; slope stability; and erosion control. The site plan was configured to respond to the natural setting, minimize site disturbance, and comply with regulatory requirements. Extensive archaeological investigation and coordination with resource agencies resulted in the successful protection and mitigation of a significant burial mound group. On-site drives were configured to segregate site traffic, and preserve trees/open space for landscape restoration. HGA' s professional consulting services were recognized with an American Council of Engineering Companies/Minnesota Honor Award.
