Christ Church Lake Forest
Lake Forest, IllinoisFounded in 1980, the Lake Forest Congregational Church began planning for expansion within its first five years. The congregation was given a ten-acre site on the edge of town, and began to develop a master plan immediately. The design evolved through careful study of a New England village model. At the center of the complex is a serene garden courtyard defined by Puritan-style buildings around the perimeter. The master plan calls for a 1000-seat meeting house and four smaller "houses" for parish education, social functions and church offices. When complete, the new village will embody the formal symmetry and simplicity of the congregation's Puritan heritage.
