East Texas Medical Center Regional Health System

Jacksonville, Texas

East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) is one of the largest not-for-profit rural healthcare systems in America and HGA provides them system-wide A/E services. ETMC believes that a well-run hospital can provide more than quality healthcare; it can be a job creator, an economic catalyst and a source of civic pride. After consulting with HGA, ETMC purchased an aging downtown hospital and dubbed it ETMC Jacksonville. HGA designed the hospital remodel and expansion, adding much-needed space and revitalizing the neighborhood. The hospital was ill equipped for the trend toward outpatient care, and the surgical facilities required updating. The medical office building and outpatient / rehabilitation / wellness center were too small for existing demand, let alone new services. The two oldest buildings were razed to rebuild the heart of the campus. The new HGA-designed wings include:

  • A 16-bed Ambulatory Care Center that conveniently allows patient check-in, prep, care and recovery to take place on a single level

  • A 6-bed Intensive Care Unit with larger, private rooms and a central nurses station

  • Expanded spaces for medical records, physical therapy and a pharmacy
