Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building

Manteca, California

Kaiser Permanente charged HGA with designing a two-phased Medical Office Building in Manteca, California, totaling 25,000 square feet. Phase I development included 19,000 square feet, and the future Phase II development would encompass approximately 6,000 square feet. Phase II was planned and conceptually designed either to be an expansion of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan or to be occupied by a separate tenant.
The Medical Office Building provides a broad range of outpatient services including Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physical Therapy, Health Education, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Blood Drawing and Administrative Support. One of Kaiser's major design goals was to have passive solar shading during the hot summer months. HGA's design solution was a circular column and metal trellis sunscreen, which reduces heat gain during the summer and enables sunlight to warm the space during the winter.
