Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport Telecommunications

Challenge Provide a cost-effective alternative to dedicated fiber optic cables for each discreet system and enhance the operation, administration, maintenance and provisioning of the transfer of data across a campus environment.
Solution HGA's telecommunications design services team, in a cooperative effort with other MAC consultants, developed and implemented a Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) with the ability to share bandwidth between multiple applications. The system takes advantage of the high-speed digital transmission capability of optical fiber and SONET's physical architecture of dual counter rotating rings, to provide a more robust and enhanced system redundancy. This Synchronous Optical Network provides for the integrated transport of voice, data and video communications services.
