Mercy Medical Center
Oshkosh, WisconsinMercy Medical Center offers comprehensive care with an emphasis on convenience and family involvement. The project included 275,000-square-feet of hospital space with 168 patient beds and a 75,000-square-foot addition to an existing clinic. HGA worked with Affinity Health System to design facilities that incorporate five core areas of patient services:
HGA designed Ambulatory and Inpatient Surgery immediately adjacent to each other, allowing them to share staff and supplies. The Emergency Department is also adjacent to Ambulatory Care, which enables sharing of diagnostic and treatment modalities. The flexible Inpatient Bed Tower configuration allows smaller specialty units to be combined into a larger unit providing similar patient services. HGA sited the bed tower to take advantage of natural light and the scenic natural surroundings of the campus. A two-story galleria connects to five core areas and their entrances, enabling easy wayfinding. Just outside of the galleria a healing garden greets patients and families as they enter the Medical Center, setting the stage for a calm, therapeutic visit.
