Meriter Hospital Heart Center
Madison, WisconsinFor more than 30 years, Meriter Hospital has been a pioneer in heart care and cardiovascular treatment. Meriter engaged HGA to consolidate two major hospitals in the Madison metro area. As part of this initiative, Meriter decided to consolidate all cardiac care services into a semi-independent distinguished center for excellence. Gathering these services under one roof-from the initial visit to weekly rehabilitation trips on the jogging track-provides a convenient "one stop shop" for patients and maximizes operational efficiency. HGA's design expanded the campus vertically, adding five stories on top of an existing five-story tower. The home of the new Heart Center is on the eleventh floor, which spans the two towers. This all-glass cap offers panoramic views of downtown Madison. HGA designed the Meriter Heart Center not only to have amazing views, but also to be practical. The underlying objective was to strike a balance between sophisticated/innovative technology and personalized, compassionate care.
