Orange City Area Health System

Orange City, Iowa

This 120,000 SF replacement hospital for Orange City Health System in Iowa maximizes light and materials to create a warm and healing environment.
HGA integrated energy-efficient lighting throughout to reveal rich materials, textures, and colors. In the lobby, for instance, a stone wall and wood ceiling glow with warm light. Downlight and uplight enhance the rough-stone wall and water feature. Chapel lighting further emphasizes the expressions of pure architectural forms. Corridor lighting creates a non-institutional experience, while wood finishes and wall sconces emphasize a homelike setting in the patient rooms. At night, the building is a glowing beacon on the prairie.
