The Pantages Theatre

Minneapolis, Minnesota

HGA has dedicated its creative and technical resources to developing re-use possibilities for this unique property for nearly a decade, including a variety of pre-design studies for the Minneapolis Community Development Agency (MCDA). HGA was formally selected for the project's architecture and engineering services in August, 2000.
Restored with detailed care and attention, the Pantages reopened Nov. 8, 2002 and has been said to have become "the loveliest of the city's three Hennepin Avenue theaters." Star Tribune, Nov. 24, 2002.
The Pantages Theatre and Stimson Building are now home to a beautifully restored vaudeville playhouse, updated backstage to serve off-Broadway touring productions, live-music, and dance among other live performance productions. A new, expanded lobby and marquee establish a distinctive and dramatic presence at Hennepin Avenue and 7th Street. Tenant spaces in the adjoining Stimson building will serve upscale dining and hospitality venues. Both building projects have been designed into a seamless whole - an urban, pedestrian friendly, mixed-use renovation at the heart of the Hennepin Theatre District. Nearly all of the building's original character and elements were restored or recreated. Material selections were based on compatibility with the building's character and every effort was made to reduce waste during the design and construction phases.
