Polarfab Fab II Addition

Bloomington, Minnesota

HGA has been providing VTC/PolarFab, a semiconductor manufacturer located in Bloomington, Minnesota, on-going planning and design services for their facility expansion projects. The most recent project goal was to allow PolarFab to significantly increase production capability as soon as possible. The new building features a unique cleanroom tunnel/clean service space arrangement to maintain the 4,000 Sq. Ft. Class 1 (ISO 2) space at 68+/- 1 Degree F and 45+/-2 percent RH on a continuous basis. The design provided maximum flexibility to accommodate future process equipment replacement in response to continual changes in technology. Process Utility Distribution To enhance the flexible design concept a manifold type process utility distribution system was developed that included:

  • Ultra-pure Water (RO/DI) Supply and Return

  • Process Cooling Water System Supply and Return

  • Sensible Cooling Water Supply and Return

  • Process Vacuum

  • Housekeeping Vacuum

  • Clean Dry Compressed Air

  • High Purity Nitrogen

  • High Purity Oxygen

  • Process Exhaust Systems (Corrosive, Solvent, Pyroforic)

  • Power Bus

  • Cable Tray / Data Network
Design and construction of the new 25,000 square foot, state-of the art cleanroom addition was completed within 10 months allowing PolarFab to expand its operations on schedule in a cost effective manner.
