Prairie Lakes Hospital %26 Care Center Obstetrics Department Renovation
Watertown, South DakotaPrairie Lakes Healthcare System's birth program is based on the concept of one-to-one caring for mother and baby. In remodeling the obstetrics department, HGA and Prairie Lakes Health System identified priorities, including increasing the number of LDRP rooms from eight to ten with a higher level of patient comfort. The team consolidated the nursery to a more efficient 500 square feet. Two examination stations fit in the nursery, with some examination taking place within the patient room. The expanded nurses' station improves operational efficiency by allowing better proximity to care areas and support areas. Phase Two will renovate the medical/surgical nursing units on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
