Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History Discovery Center

HGA was prime Architect for the Discovery Center project at the National Museum of Natural History. The renovation included a 500-seat IMAX 3D theater, 5,000 SF Children's Discovery Center, 800-seat restaurant and kitchen. The Discovery Center is also accessible from the gift shop developed to connect the Mall and Constitution Avenue entrances. The $18 million construction budget included a skylit atrium and renovation of the existing building's brick and stone courtyard facades. Associate Architect: Smithgroup, Inc.
