Southdale Center - Theater and Restaurant Expansion
Edina, MinnesotaSouthdale Center expanded with the addition of a multi-screen theater and new restaurants. HGA provided the civil engineering and landscape architecture services required to accommodate the building expansion and obtain regulatory agency approvals. Parking layouts, traffic circulation, site grading, and site utilities were all modified to prepare the building site. To provide space for the building expansion, an existing transit hub was relocated within the Southdale Center site. The transit hub design was closely coordinated with the property owner, tenants, city officials, and MetroTransit staff. A site plan was established that met the traffic operation requirements and fit with the constraints of the existing mall site. The City strongly encouraged a transit friendly site design. HGA assisted Southdale Center in successfully responding with a relocated transit hub that improved transit operations and provides enhanced patron comfort.
