Saint Benedict's Chapel
St. Joseph, MinnesotaThe 1914 chapel at the College of St. Benedict had long been the focal point of convent life for the Catholic teaching nuns. By the late 1970s, however, the chapel has become part of the local community life as well, and the liturgical requirements began to change. The building needed to extend a clear sense of welcome not only to the convent residents, but also to the students, local citizens and visitors. The worship space had to embrace the diverse congregation with a contemporary liturgy in a fresh environment.
