Saint Mary's Hospital Telecommunications
Rhinelander, WisconsinGiven the opportunity to build "from the ground up," Saint Mary's Hospital enlisted the assistance of HGA's Telecommunication Design Services Group to help them develop a state-of-the-art, integrated telecommunications system that will support the rapidly advancing voice, data and video requirements of their new hospital. Our telecommunication design team performed an in-depth study on the telecommunications needs of each of the hospital's departments and the technologies available to address them, and has developed an integrated solution that meets this broad range of capabilities. The solution incorporates both local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) purposely designed to address the present and future voice, data an video connectivity requirements within and between the new hospital, the data center and remote facilities. Strategic information requirements such as ready access to HIS Systems and hospital records, and the ability to support Saint Mary's PACS and Radiological Imaging needs were addressed. These networks will support a transition to wireless voice and data capabilities that will enable caregivers to utilize portable, hand held data devices while with their patients, and wireless phones that are integrated with the hospital's nurse call system. These new technologies will allow caregivers to respond to patient's needs more quickly and efficiently. All of these communications capabilities are made possible through one integrated cabling infrastructure that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of Saint Mary's Hospital.
