Saint Paul Regional Water Services McCarron's Campus
St. Paul, MinnesotaThe Saint Paul Regional Water Services relocated its downtown offices and its distribution and maintenance facility at Hamline Avenue to the McCarron's Water Treatment Plant Campus.
HGA assembled a multi-disciplined team consisting of architects and engineers collaborating towards an holistic solution to their campus needs. Our first step was to understand in detail the flow of people, vehicles, materials and work processes that existed on three separate sites. The new McCarron's Campus has a number of programmatic components with unique and distinct work processes:
The solution applies an understanding of operational flow to the physical site - overlaying the process flow analysis with a traffic analysis and an understanding of the topography, soils and infrastructure of the site.
The client requested that the new buildings complement both the existing campus and more specifically, the historic 1920 water treatment building.
Finally, the design integrates necessary security measures such as parking separation, "stand-off" distances and "safescape" applications.
