San Francisco, CaliforniaAfter successfully designing a high-tech Anesthesia Research Laboratory for UCSF, HGA turned its attention to softer detailing with this library renovation for the Laboratory. The Laboratory's lead researcher asked for a "stuffy British library," a comforting place where students and faculty could continue their research, but also where he could entertain potential new donors to fund his research. With warm finishes that indeed recall an old-world English library, the anesthesia research library features custom wood casework, barrel-vaulted ceiling with recessed lighting, plush blue carpeting, and classic wooden study tables. In addition to bookshelves, the casework includes computer stations and display cases for historic anesthesia equipment and rare books.
