University of Minnesota, Scholars Walk/Wall of Discovery
Minneapolis, MinnesotaDeveloped for the University of Minnesota's Sesquicentennial celebration, the Scholars Walk is a three block linear space that links Cass Gilbert's monumental Northrop Mall with Antoine Predock's McNamara Alumni Center. The eastern third of the Walk opens into the enclosed and serene Scholars Park.
As a whole, Scholars Walk and Wall of Discovery provides a third major open space to balance the Mall and the Victorian Era Knoll where the campus began. Currently, the Alumni Center precinct has little open space and none connecting back to the historic core of campus.

[about the Wall of Discovery] A profound work of urban design that claims the role of the place-making for architects in ways that do not necessarily involve creating a building, but rather, by creating great places.
