Wisconsin Lutheran College, Student Center Addition and Renovation
Wauwatosa, WisconsinThis $7 million project consisted of an addition to and renovation of the main administration building to create a new student center. Serving as a central gathering point for the College, the student center houses food services and cafeteria/dining facilities; the campus book store; and various student services including an information office, mailboxes and health services. The student union, located on the lower level, features several distinct gathering areas including an informal cafe, a lounge area with a fireplace, a recreation room with pool tables and a performance area with a stage and dance floor. The building was designed to harmonize with the historic context of the campus. The focal point of the student center is a two-story atrium space. Utilizing the brick exterior of the existing administrative building as an interior wall, the glass and steel atrium connects the old and new buildings.
