HGA Architects and Engineers Hires James A. Goblirsch as Principal for Higher Education Group
Minneapolis, MN - HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA), a full-service architecture, engineering and planning firm, has hired architect James A. Goblirsch, AIA, as a principal with the firm's Minneapolis office. Goblirsch will leverage his considerable higher education expertise to build upon HGA's thriving educational client base.
"Jim's leadership experience will prove a great asset to HGA," says Gary Reetz, AIA, vice president, principal with the firm's Arts, Community %26 Education (ACE) practice group. "He brings considerable experience in marketing, master planning, design and implementation strategies for educational clients."
Prior to joining HGA, Goblirsch was director of Holabird %26 Root's Rochester, Minnesota, office where he was instrumental in increasing the office's annual gross revenues nearly three-fold. He directed a 22-person staff as he oversaw the firm's marketing, strategic planning and quality control. Through his initiatives, he developed ongoing relationships with universities and colleges throughout the Midwest, including the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and Winona State University in southern Minnesota. He was involved with the U of M's $25 million renovation of 717 Delaware Building for the Academic Health Center and most recently worked on the renovations of Maxwell Hall and the Wellness Center at Winona State.
Goblirsch also brings expertise in historic theater planning and design. While a project architect and project manager at Quinn Evans Architects in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Goblirsch managed numerous national historic theater renovations. He also led seminars at national conferences, including the League of Historic American Theatres.
An architecture graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Goblirsch is a registered architect in Minnesota, Ohio and Iowa. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the League of Historic American Theatres.
"I enjoy the relationships built through client-driven projects," Goblirsch says. "Design requires an intimate understanding of your client's day-to-day life. This deepens the designer's understanding of the client and the project, and ultimately amplifies the excitement of a job well done. This interaction forms the basis of a strong, lasting relationship."
