HGA Hires Dave Alpert as Vice President and Principal
San Francisco, CA - Dave Alpert, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the San Francisco office of HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) as vice president, principal and office director. Alpert will leverage his strategic planning, design and project management experience to help lead the office's design work in the healthcare, higher education, corporate, and science and technology sectors.
"Dave has a strong background in design and construction management that will prove instrumental in supporting our growing client base in San Francisco," said Stephen Fiskum, AIA, chief operating officer of HGA. "Through his visioning, he will assist us in developing improved work processes and efficiencies for our clients."
Alpert has more than 20 years experience leading a variety of large-scale projects for healthcare, corporate and higher education clients nationally.
Before joining HGA, Alpert was with the healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif., where he was a principal in the strategy, planning and design group of National Facilities Services. There, he guided more than $15 billion worth of design and construction projects. Alpert played a key role in the healthcare organization's "Future of the Medical Office Building (MOB)" initiative to develop innovative clinic modules. As a leading member of Kaiser's High Performance Buildings Committee, he contributed to its position as an environmental sustainability leader in the healthcare industry.
Alpert has also served as a senior project manager in the San Francisco offices of Gensler and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. His additional project experience includes several high-profile corporate headquarters projects-the LucasFilm headquarters in Marin County, Calif.; Sun Microsystems headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif.; and the TransCanada headquarters in Calgary, Alberta-as well as the one-million-square-foot California State Office Building and Supreme Court in San Francisco.
Alpert is founder and co-director of Expotitions, a business roundtable of more than 400 facilities, design, construction, and real estate professionals dedicated to exploring compelling current issues. He has spoken widely and led panel discussions on facility design, planning and sustainable design at conferences for national and international organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and American Society for Healthcare Engineers (ASHE).
Alpert has a master's degree in business administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Additionally, he holds master's and bachelor's degrees in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Alpert is a member of the AIA and will serve as the organization's 2008 national chair of the Corporate Architects and Facilities Management Knowledge Community Advisory Group. He is a LEED Accredited Professional.
