HGA to Design Expansion of Clovis Community Medical Center
Clovis/Sacramento, CA - HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) has been awarded the design contract for the campus expansion of Clovis Community Medical Center in Clovis, Calif. Key goals of the design include creating direct and efficient workflows within the healing environment, as well as increasing design value by reducing waste and incorporating sustainable components. Under the master plan, the firm will work within an Integrated Lean Project Delivery (ILPD) team to renovate existing facilities and assist with other work to enhance the hospital's services and facilities for the Clovis community.
For Phase A, HGA will design an expansion of the outpatient care center. A new radiological imaging center for women's health will be placed on the first floor, and the second floor will house an additional four operating rooms and associated support spaces. Phase A will also include infrastructure upgrades, including expanded parking and central plant improvements, with completion expected in late 2009.
The proposed Phase B will preliminarily comprise the construction of a new bed tower.
HGA will collaborate with representatives of Clovis Community Medical Center and project engineers throughout the design, planning and execution in order to integrate principles of ILPD and sustainable design. Their efforts will help to minimize disruption to the design and construction work flow, improve planning of the design by using cost as a factor, and shorten the construction schedule. With collaborative planning, the simultaneous construction of several projects is more likely to remain on-time and on-budget. In addition, HGA is examining sustainable design components to potentially provide energy cost savings.
HGA's design team includes Bonnie F. Walker, AIA, principal-in-charge; Richard Tannahill, AIA, and Teague Ho, AIA, project managers; Creed Kampa, AIA, and Raymond Burriss, design architects; Brent Forslin, structural engineer; and Laurie Rother and Amy White, interior designers.
