HGA Architects and Engineers Wins National Environmental Stewardship Award
HGAMinneapolis, MN - HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA), a full-service architecture, engineering and planning firm, received a national Environmental Stewardship Award through the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) for 2007. The award recognizes an individual or firm that has made significant contribution to sustainable building practices.
HGA was cited for the "Practice of Sustainable Design, Promoting Environmental Awareness in the Construction Industry, and Educating others in the Advantages of Sustainable Design."
"This award validates HGA's deep and broad commitment to sustainable design," says Patrick Thibaudeau, vice president, director of specifications and allied disciplines, and leader of the firm's sustainable design efforts. "Sustainable design is integral to who we are as a firm. It's at the core of our commitment to design excellence. HGA has long been an industry leader in promoting sustainable design and educating others about the value of sustainable design."
HGA's corporate headquarters on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis, MN reflects the firm's commitment to integrating sustainable design into daily practice. The adaptive re-use of an old warehouse features natural lighting, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and flexible, adaptable spaces. At their Milwaukee offices, HGA designed and renovated a historical waterfront warehouse that is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified. The firm often uses its own offices to showcase the latest sustainable products and systems for clients.
More than 83 HGA architects are accredited LEED designers, approximately 20 percent of the firm's professional staff. In addition, HGA actively seeks partnerships with other environmentally conscious firms and agencies to design buildings that are healthy and resource- and energy-efficient.
The award will be presented at the 51st Annual CSI Show %26 Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, June 20-22. CSI is a national association of specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, building-materials suppliers and related professionals.
