In addition to Best of Competition for Ramsey County Library, HGA won:
- 1st Place for Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin in downtown Milwaukee, Educational/Institutional category.
- 1st Place for Crossings Medical and Well-being Center by Medical Associates in Menomonee Falls, Wis., Hospitality category.

THE WINNERS
Adjacent to a community park and wetlands, the 31,000-square-foot Best of Competition Ramsey County Library-Maplewood includes an extended entry canopy that welcomes patrons into an engaging interior focused on a central lobby and reading porch overlooking the Maplewood Sculpture Garden. The interior plan offers a series of functional and delightful spaces, from intimate reading rooms to the soaring central stacks. The jurors praised the library for its cohesive integration of interior and exterior detailing, noting that "every aspect flows together-Fabulous!"
1st Place Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin is a 120,000-square-foot aquatics museum and aquarium overlooking Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee. The complex includes a rectangular Science Building with exhibits connected to a circular Aquarium Building with saltwater and freshwater tanks. Interior spaces focus on exhibits and spectacular lakefront views to create an exciting visitor experience. The jurors lauded the building's relationship to its site, particularly praising the strong use of lighting and understated materials and graphics that have "great impact."
The 28,000-square-foot 1st Place Crossings Health and Well-being Center is a new model for wellness and medical treatment that combines retail and community spaces; a medical and well-being spa; and a traditional clinic and testing facility. Inspired by hospitality architecture, the interior casts aside traditional healthcare architecture to allow the three-part program to inspire dynamic design solutions. The jurors lauded the "nice juxtaposition of vertical and horizontal elements."
For the Award of Excellence Marine Terminal, Unit #319 residential project, HGA incorporated a modern design palette without compromising the original architectural character of this historic riverfront building. The main living space boasts 13-foot ceilings and a functional layout that effectively maximize the open floor plan and industrial windows. The jurors praised the interior space for its well-balanced scale and good use of lighting.
The annual IIDA Wisconsin awards program recognizes outstanding interior design projects that demonstrate creative and appropriate design solutions for Office/Corporate, Hospitality, Healthcare, Retail, Educational/Institutional, Liturgical, Residential, and Custom/Non-Building Design. The jurors included nationally recognized design professionals from the Great Plains Chapter of IIDA.
