Minnesota State Capitol Restoration

Minneapolis, MN - HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) is honored to announce they have been selected by the State of Minnesota to lead the Schematic Design for the Minnesota State Capitol Restoration. The project is anticipated to be a $70%2b million phased renovation and restoration of the State Capitol Building interiors. In addition to the interior restoration project, the State has selected HGA to perform the ongoing Asset Preservation Work for the Capitol Complex, including art conservation, exterior architectural services, landscape and emergency response planning. HGA has provided Architecture and Engineering services for the State of Minnesota on numerous other state projects on the Capitol Complex including the Minnesota History Center, the Department of Revenue building, the Department of Agriculture and Health Lab Building and the Orville Freeman Office Building. For this important project, HGA has formed the Capitol Restoration Collaborative with Schooley Caldwell Associates, of Columbus, Ohio. Schooley Caldwell Associates is an award winning architecture and engineering firm founded in 1944. They provide the Capitol Restoration Collaborative with specific state capitol restoration experience, having worked on the Capitol buildings for the States of Ohio, Utah and Kansas as well as numerous other landmark buildings. "As a Minnesota firm, HGA is very pleased and honored to lead this significant project," said Rebecca Greco, principal in HGA's Minneapolis office. "Our team was assembled to provide the State of Minnesota with significant expertise in restoration of the state's beautiful and revered building. This Capitol building, designed by Cass Gilbert, is considered to be a masterpiece of early twentieth century American architecture - blending architecture and art expression and was an example for many state capitols that followed."
