General Mills - World Headquarters Chiller Plant

Sustainable Solution for Future Growth

Responding to a campus expansion and state legislation prohibiting use of well water for HVAC systems, HGA developed a sustainable solution for future growth, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship for the 1 million SF, seven-building campus.

HGA replaced the inefficient chiller plants with a centralized high-efficiency chiller plant and developed a central low-pressure steam heating plant. The solution involved a highly detailed analysis of existing system, including piping, coils, control valves, and control systems to replace the existing cooling plant, steam heating plant, and related components with new systems to maintain continued facility operation.
